Cat Recovering After Being Shot With An Arrow

Cat Shot With ArrowA Crown Point, Indiana couple discovered the cat outside the door of their house Thursday.

“There was a feline yelling at our door,” said Buckett Pendley, a Realtor in the Crown Point, Indiana area. “I looked out the window, and I couldn’t believe what I had seen.”

What she had seen was a little black cat pierced by arrow that had went though his shoulder and front foot, and it seems that it shattered his front leg on the way through his body. The broken cat had by some means managed to endure both his injuries and the freezing temperatures that had been in the area for days.

Pendley’s companion, Mickey, cut the shaft off the arrow. They then called their next door neighbors, Melissa Buggie, a veterinarian at a nearby vet, and her companion Jeff Jamrosz.

Jamrosz is an associate at the vet where his spouse works rushed Toughy to the vet, where Buggie performed a 3 hour surgery to get rid of the arrow and set broken leg bones.

Thursday evening, the feline emerged from sedation and appears to likely survive, but his injury is badly infected. Jamrosz believes the arrow had been implanted for more than a few days. Pendley said that she was able to save the felines leg, and it has offered to soak up the medical costs.

“The clinic had nicknamed the cat Bulls Eye,” Buckett said. “I named him Toughy for having survived.”

The feline is believed to be about 2 yrs. old and was wearing a turquoise and white collar, Pendley said. He has been seen in the area from time to time since summer and seemed to be healthy.

The Pendleys had called their neighbors Thursday in an unsuccessful effort to find his owner. It’s most likely the cat was shot with the arrow from a somewhat elevated height, and the shooting with the arrow may not have been purposely, Jamrosz said.

“I think that the person who did this should be very ashamed,”Pendley had said. “We are all God’s creatures.”

How Do you feel about poor little Toughy?

  1. It’s so sad that somebody would do that to a poor defenseless animal. I’m glad he’s O.K now.
